IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:
We have recently become aware of companies and/or organizations who are calling people using the generic name "Tax Relief Center" for their phone solicitation activities. TaxReliefCenter.org does not make these automated calls to consumers and it is our policy not to engage in this form of marketing. If you have received such a call, please let us know by emailing [email protected] so that we may report this unauthorized activity.
Additionally, the IRS does not use email, text messages or social media to discuss tax debts or refunds with taxpayers. The IRS initiates most contacts with taxpayers through regular mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. There are special circumstances when they may reach out via phone regarding overdue tax bills or delinquencies, but almost always only after they’ve already sent a letter first.
UPDATE: Recently we have learned of instances where consumers are also getting automated calls regarding “unpaid taxes”. Do not respond to these calls as the IRS will typically send letters or notices via U.S. mail. So, if any company or organization calls claiming you have unpaid taxes, DO NOT respond to these unsolicited calls.

President Trump Wants Lawmakers to Forgo Christmas for Tax Reform

US President Donald Trump has worked double time in having his tax reform bill passed before reaching his first year in office. The administration is even pressuring the country’s legislators to have Trump’s tax plan passed immediately. In fact, Trump has already given them a deadline — with a warning — if his priority bill doesn’t get approved as soon as possible. Here’s a report from The Hill.

Trump to Lawmakers: No Christmas Break if No Tax Reform

President Trump said in an interview released Friday that lawmakers should forgo Christmas break if they do not pass tax reform before then. “Well I think they should and I think they will,” Trump told Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo when asked if lawmakers should remain in Washington if a bill isn’t passed by Thanksgiving.

“I think a lot of things are happening unless, you know, it’s going to be right after that. But I don’t even like them leaving,” he continued. “But I will say this, I want to get it by the end of the year, but I’d be very disappointed if it took that long.”

Why is Donald Trump in such a hurry to pass the tax reform proposal? In interviews, the president declared that he was giving the Americans “a big beautiful Christmas present in the form of a tremendous tax cut.” He revealed that this ambitious plan would be the biggest tax cut in the country’s history. Part of Trump’s tax plan includes simplifying tax codes and reducing business taxes, all of which the president said will do wonders for the US economy.

Different Views on Trump’s Tax Plan

The president’s tax reform would be the “most sweeping rewrite of the US tax code in decades.” Trump’s tax reform proposal has gained support from most of his allies among the Republicans, as this would help the party raise a large amount of money. But some party members warn that there could be a potential increase in the government’s debt over the next decade. The Democrat party, meanwhile, criticize the president’s plan as more advantageous for corporations and elite Americans instead of the working and middle-class citizens.

The Trump administrator puts too much effort on the passage of the president’s priority tax reform plan. But given the opposing views from most lawmakers, the fate of Trump’s tax plan remains hanging.
